Job DescriptionThe position serves as academic support for students in the nursing discipline. It is critical this individual is knowledgeable of current nursing theory and practice. The position will work with nursing faculty to provide support with curricular assignments, activities, and projects. The position also helps to deliver workshops and group tutoring sessions that serve students.Principle Responsibilities and Results 1. Tutor students at a variety of ability levels in all Nursing classes so that the students can be as successful as possible in their courses. 2. Collaborate with Nursing faculty to develop resources to assist students in their learning and academic progress.Minimum QualificationsA. Post-secondary or industry certificate/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Nursing.AND 1 academic year of teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing at high school level or above.ORB. 4 years of work experience in Nursing where no degree/certificate/diploma/licensure is required.ORC. An equivalent combination of education and work experience.Preferred QualificationAbility to present teaching material to students and assist students in understanding the concepts in an independent manner.Communication skills sufficient to effectively explain concepts and procedures to students so that they are easily understood.Ability to present material in both one-on-one and group settings.Work Shift (Days / Hours of work)Monday - Friday / 4-8 hours weekly (days and hours will vary dependent on course need). Rochester Community and Technical College was founded in 1915 on a motion by Dr. Charles Mayo to the Rochester School Board. Rochester is Minnesota's oldest - and one of the nation's oldest - original community colleges. The 2005-2006 academic year marked RCTC's 90th anniversary. The college serves approximately 7,500 students in credit-based enrollments and 3,000 in noncredit courses.
