ABOUT STEVE HACKMAN PRODUCTIONS (SHP): Steve Hackman is a multi-talented composer, conductor, and producer who is pioneering a new genre of music by elegantly and virtuosically combining classical with popular, ranging from rock and pop to EDM and hip-hop. His orchestral fusion productions known as SYMPHONYFUSE (such as Brahms X Radiohead, Tchaikovsky X Drake and Beethoven X Beyoncé) have garnered widespread acclaim in the classical music world, captivating audiences, consistently achieving high attendance rates and introducing new listeners to orchestral music. His underground original music productions, known as THE BRINK, are gaining momentum as a must-see phenomenon in Los Angeles, attracting influential figures from the entertainment industry and generating anticipation for a global impact. Finally, his collaborative work with artists ranging from Charlie Puth to Doja Cat to Steve Lacy, whether in the studio, in the live space or at marquee events like the Emmy and Academy Awards, is adding to the narrative of SH as an exciting and compelling new voice in the musical landscape. Steve’s first feature film score will be heard later this year in a Netflix release.
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Steve Hackman Productions (SHP) is seeking a highly organized, focused and efficient Operations Manager, responsible for the operational and production elements of the company. This position acts as the leader of the SHP operational team, which includes the SHP Technical Director and the SHP Assistant/Artist Liaison. The Operations Manager will act as a vital link between SHP and presenting orchestras/partners, as well as a crucial communication link with management and agents. When performing SYMPHONYFUSE productions on tour with existing symphony orchestras, this individual will advance the production with the presenter, communicating all technical details in accordance with SHP riders and show contracts. When self-producing SHP concerts (whether SYMPHONYFUSE or otherwise), this individual will be responsible for all production aspects. The Operations Manager will be expected to be present at many SHP productions, and will ensure the Assistant/Artist Liaison is fully trained and prepared to be the on-site representative of SHP. Another important area of responsibility is the management of touring artistic personnel, with the support of SHP Assistant/Artist Liaison, ensuring that soloists and Steve Hackman have all the information and support they need to deliver a high-quality performance. In addition to the large-scale SYPHONYFUSE concerts (whether presented or self-presented), other SHP projects include recording sessions, private concerts, festivals, workshops and partnerships with other artistic entities, etc. For all of these projects, the Operations Manager, together with the operations team, will be responsible for all production and operational elements.
IDEAL CANDIDATE SUMMARY: Successful candidates for this role should have leadership experience at a performing arts organization, ideally a symphony orchestra, in either the production, operations or artistic departments. A strong musical background with the ability to read music is strongly encouraged. SHP team members thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic and evolving work environment, inspired by the music and experiences we present, which challenges norms and breaks barriers. Within this team, experience, competency and execution are the expected foundation; also necessary are the dynamism and flexibility to handle whatever lands on your laptop on a daily basis. Creative problem solving, consistent and accurate communication, both verbal and written, and a level head and can-do attitude are essential. The successful candidate will have the discipline and focus to work remotely and independently, and also have the interpersonal skills to be a mature and professional presence at all concerts and projects. Building and maintaining a strong working relationship with Steve Hackman is vital.
