The Opportunity The Director of Student Life is a full-time, year-round, exempt position reporting to the Assistant Head of School. This position serves as a member of the School’s Administrative Leadership Team and has overall responsibility for student life programming, including the residential life program, the student advisory program. student activities and student leadership opportunities. The Director of Student Life is also in charge of student accountability and support, owning our student disciplinary process. Adheres to the responsibilities and expectations as well as policies and procedures as outlined in KMS Community Handbook. Technically savvy and able to own and operate tech systems such as Salesforce, Orah and G-Suite. Training will be provided. Specific Job Functions: Serve as a curator of student culture at KMS: Develop systems and ways to strengthen programming to enhance the student experience. Foster a strong sense of community and spirit and promote the School’s core values. Responsibility for all Student Life programming at KMS, including responsibility for leading the residential program. Lead student disciplinary process. Work with advisory coordinator to deliver student advisory program including curriculum for the program. Develop and execute student activities calendar, including any key educational programming. Design and lead student orientation. Refine and further develop student leadership opportunities. Facilitate existing programs: Ursus Cadre (residential student leaders), Student Council, NHS etc. Lead Residential Life Staff and program therein. Create and Maintain all Student Life staffing schedules including, Faculty on Duty, Dorm Supervisors, Overnight Supervisor, Find substitutes or personally fill-in gaps as needed, also fulfill regularly assigned shifts. Own staff and student training for Orah, a student management application. Work with school nurse to ensure student records in Magnus system are up to date. During the summer, work with School Nurse and Summer Experience Coordinator to ensure that all residential and student life needs are met for all on campus summer program participants. Ensure that the dorm is staffed for residential summer programs. Share mid-week coverage of the campus front office with Summer Experience Coordinator during on campus camps during the summer. Building Preparation and Planning: Work with Admissions team to ensure appropriate capacity in the dorm is met. Work with Buildings and Grounds staff to ensure dorms rooms and student commons spaces are prepared for all programs and remain in working order. Regularly communicate with families about student life programming, individual student support and/or disciplinary situations, and all things pertaining to student life at KMS. Teach KMS fundamentals course. Coordinate Drivers Education course with external provider. Participate in Faculty on Duty rotation. Other duties as assigned Requirements Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred At least 1 years prior experience in a similar student life role; or similarly applicable role. Residential Life experience preferred. Demonstrated experience working with parents and families in support of the overall student experience in a school environment. Living on campus is preferred, though not required. Proven leadership abilities and people management skills. Successful track record working with students and student life programming. Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Proficiency in Google G-Suite required; Salesforce and Orah a plus Must have a valid driver’s license; obtain a VT Type II Bus Endorsement Submit to fingerprinting & background check Compensation and Benefits This is a full-time, year-round, exempt position. Benefits include a retirement plan after one year of employment, cost sharing for health insurance, HSA, discounted season pass to Killington/Pico, generous vacation and holiday PTO. Use of the facility and dining hall for all meals. Tuition remission for qualifying dependent children may be available upon completing one year of employment. Employees are provided additional compensation for completed Faculty on Duty shifts. Campus housing is included in this role.
