The San Diego State University Institute for Transformative Education promotes college access and completion for low-income and/or first-generation-college students through excellence and innovation in education. SDSU Upward Bound (UB) educational programs are funded by the U.S. Department of Education to assist eligible high school students to pursue and complete postsecondary education. There are 13 staff members in the Academic Year and approximately 24 during the Six-Week Summer Academy. UB is funded to serve 167 students (93 UB Classic and 74 UB STAR) during the Academic Year and 60 students (33 UB Classic and 27 UB STAR) during the Six-Week Summer Academy. The SDSU Institute for Transformative Education is seeking an instructor for a Community Health course for our high school students during our six-week hybrid Summer Academy. The course will focus on a Youth Impact Assessment research project with topics such as obesity, mental health, and the Opioid epidemic. The Institute's goal is to assist low-income and/or first-generation-college students currently in high school to prepare for success in college. The six-week hybrid Summer Academy provides participants with fast-paced, intensive research coursework and other enrichment activities. The Summer Academy's design begins with five days of online instruction (June 9, 2025 to June 13th), three weeks of residential days (June 16, 2025 to July 2, 2025). The academy ends with a staff debrief on Thursday, July 3, and a Research Symposium and Summer Banquet on July 18th, 2025. Schedule All-Staff Training: Monday, June 2, 2025, from 9 AM - 3 PM (In-person at SDSU Campus) RA/TA Training: June 3 - June 6, 2025 9 AM - 4 PM (In-person at SDSU Campus) TA/Instructor Prep: June 3 - June 6, 2025, in the afternoon, 12 PM -4 PM Parent/Student Orientation: Saturday, June 7, 2025 (In-person at SDSU Campus) Summer Academy Opening Day: June 9, 2025 Summer Hybrid Academy Dates: Online Instruction: June 9 - June 13, 2025 Residential Days: July 16 - July 2, 2025 Staff Debrief: July 3, 2025, In-person from 9 AM - 12 PM Research Symposium and Summer Banquet: July 18th, 2025, Time TBD Responsibilities Duties and Responsibilities: Each teacher's principal duty is to conduct a course that is consistent with stated course goals and objectives. Modes of instruction should reflect the unique needs of students in attendance. Each teacher makes reasonable demands of students regarding daily assignments and final course requirements as appropriate to the course content and program. All teachers: Responsibilities 95%

Required Minimum Education and Experience Two years of experience performing a variety of support services for an instructional program (preparing, producing, dispensing or storing materials, supplies and equipment); OR equivalent to one year of experience in ordering, purchasing, accounting or in office work related to technical materials, supplies, or equipment in a office environment; OR equivalent to two years of college with 16-units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment or related discipline ADDITIONAL APPLICANT INFORMATION
