Submission Deadline: Sunday, June 1, 2025, on or before 5:00 p.m. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the California Association of Latino Superintendents and Administrators (CALSA) serves as the primary leader, spokesperson, and representative of the organization, directing day-to-day operations and executing the policies and direction of the Governing Board of Directors. The CEO provides innovative leadership to generate and maintain diverse financial support sources, recruits and retains CALSA members, and promotes highly effective Latino/a school administrators and educational leaders. As the primary representative of CALSA, the CEO ensures financial sustainability, expands programs and services, fosters the organization's presence on state and national platforms, and maintains effective communication while upholding CALSA's mission, vision, and professional standards. POSITION DESCRIPTION: CALSA seeks a Chief Executive Director who values and demonstrates exceptionality in the following areas: - Embodies and champions CALSA's core values, vision, mission, purpose, and goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES: - Serve as the Chief Executive Officer and representative of the CALSA Board of Directors, as liaison to outside organizations, in a professional manner becoming part of the organization and consistent with CALSA’s vision and mission. Work independently in carrying out the day-to-day operations to determine how best to execute the direction of the Board. Make data driven recommendations and decisions.
- Recommend to and establish with the Board, strategic goals for CALSA. Execute the objectives as directed to meet the Board approved goals.
- Travel statewide to attend, coordinate and represent CALSA at all signature events (i.e. Summer Institute, Focus On Results, Women’s Leadership Network events) and at other CALSA sponsored events (Regional and Chapter Events), as well as events of affiliate groups, including ALAS, as directed by the Board.
- Be primarily responsible for CALSA’s finances, with authority to access financial accounts and authority to transact business on behalf of CALSA as directed by the Board and permitted by policies. Along with the Vice President of Finance, manage CALSA’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Prepare and recommend an annual budget for Board approval and manage a balanced annual budget. Regularly review CALSA’s financial accounts with the VP of Finance and provide regular reports (not less than quarterly) to the Board and as necessary to the membership.
- Identify, develop, secure and maintain diverse fiscal resources and implement fund development strategies, including setting specific funding goals, seeking sponsorships, grants, and other philanthropic revenue sources, to support and sustain CALSA’s programs, events, initiatives and activities as approved and authorized by the Board.
- Oversee and monitor partnerships and other revenue generating agreements including the timelines to renew and or terminate those agreements as may become necessary, as well as ensuring CALSA’s compliance with any required deliverables.
- Abide by CALSA’s policies including CALSA’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct For Educational Leaders; Diversion, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Policy; Non-Discrimination; and Non-Harassment policies.
- Hire, train, direct, supervise and regularly evaluate CALSA personnel and comply with human resource requirements. Recruit, manage and direct qualified and experienced volunteer and/or contracted service providers to meet CALSA’s needs where or when CALSA’s staff is unable to fulfill the work. Manage and supervise personnel and contractors in both a virtual and in-person work environment. Ensure that all CALSA events are staffed appropriately to deliver sponsors, guests, and attendees the most positive experience possible.
- Communicate well, effectively and professionally using various media, including email, telephonic, social media, newsletters, and traditional written correspondence, with the Board, CALSA Members, partners and supporters, and as directed by the Board. Represent CALSA and the Board during public speaking engagements. Maintain regular and timely communications with the Board regarding urgent matters, general operations and with the membership about events and services.
- Work with the Board President and Executive Officers to arrange for regular and special Board meetings.
- Consult with the Executive Officers in between Board meetings when clarification is needed to execute the Board’s directions and report any matters of urgent concern to the Board.
- Perform administrative functions, including but not limited to, approving expenditures, payroll, reviewing financial reports, preparing and transmitting official communications and other administrative functions required of a virtual and in-person work environment. Recommend operational changes to the Board that would better facilitate services to members.
- Serve as the primary membership recruiter and member services contact when issues cannot be resolved by staff.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Board.
