Operations Manager and Liaison

This idea, first envisioned by Elizabeth Blodgett Hall on the original Simon?s Rock campus in 1966 in Great Barrington, MA, launched the Early College movement in the United States and beyond. Simon?s Rock has carried out this mission for 59 years in Great Barrington, and in July of 2025 is relocating to the Massena campus of Bard College, in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY.
The Role: For Simon?s Rock at Bard College, we seek a positive, collaborative, multi-tasking professional to manage the effective functioning of school operations for a two-building combined high school and early college campus, located within a larger college campus setting. The Operations Manager and Liaison (OML) works with the other members of the Massena campus and main Bard campus team to provide an excellent standard of support for all activities taking place in Simon?s Rock?s Massena campus spaces, or produced by the Simon?s Rock team in other Bard campus locations. The Operations Manager reports to the Provost/Executive Director.
This position is a full-time, hourly position with benefits, on-site at the Massena campus of Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, NY. In the months of August through May, the position is 35 hours per week, and in the months of June and July is 12 hours per week.
Duties include: ? Manage the design, installation, maintenance, and replacement schedule of classroom technology, including but not limited to: projectors, sound systems, playback devices, ancillary equipment, computers, printers, and theatrical equipment ? Manage the maintenance of theaters, studios, laboratories, classrooms, and other instructional spaces to make sure that each space is clean, safe and operational ? Support the faculty, staff, and students in troubleshooting technology issues; liaise with main campus departments on installs and repairs as needed, if beyond scope of OML to install/repair ? Schedule space use and needs with faculty, staff, and students, including a group calendar, and liaise with main campus for uses of Simon?s Rock spaces beyond Simon?s Rock programs ? Manage procurement of supplies for the Simon?s Rock programs, through direct procurement from external vendors and/or liaising with main campus purchases ? Liaise with main campus offices to ensure that mail and package, dining, transportation, environmental, and buildings & grounds services meet the needs of the Simon?s Rock programs at the Massena campus ? Liaise with main campus office regarding faculty, staff, and student email accounts, and troubleshoot email issues on campus ? Manage Simon?s Rock student worker program at the Massena campus, including liaising with relevant main campus offices for processing student worker eligibility and payroll ? Support students, technically and managerially, during student project development and performances, including student-led performances, exhibitions, and events ? Support faculty and staff in implementing on-campus events including performances, exhibitions, lectures, and community celebrations; liaise with main campus offices for any such events sponsored by Simon?s Rock and held in main campus spaces ? Support the Events Manager in implementing on-campus events including Discovery Day, Open Houses, Arrivals Day, Family Weekend, Matriculation, and Commencement ? Film, edit, document, archive, stream events and performances as requested, and train and schedule students to do so ? Staff events as needed, including providing technical support, ushering, and house management, and train and schedule students to do so ? An option to be an advisor to at least one club on campus (within compensated duties) ? An option to teach one or more classes during the academic year (for additional compensation) ? Other duties as assigned

Required qualifications: ? Bachelor?s degree, or technical training and experience directly related to job requirements ? Experience designing, implementing and repairing classroom technology systems ? Ability to facilitate outside relationships with vendors, contractors, and others ? Ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully and courteously, both externally and internally, with a diverse community
Preferred qualifications: ? Master?s degree, and ability to teach high school and/or college courses ? Experience with an Early College program ? Experience with an independent school and/or liberal arts college Compensation: $31.00-$34.00 per hour
This wage range reflects the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for the position at the time of the job posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on several factors including but not limited to market and organizational considerations, experience, and qualifications of a selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
