The Cathedral School seeks an experienced Controller. As we are a small school with a small staff, the Controller must have a hands-on approach to work with a variety of constituents to develop and implement good accounting practices, efficiency, and communications. This 12-month, in-person position’s primary function is to work closely with the CFO and the Business Office team and provide a level of expertise in functions of the finance department.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to:  accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and financial reporting.
• Manage other tasks such as
  • Bank Reconciliations.
  • Journal Entries.
  • Payroll Reconciliations.
  • Tuition revenue reconciliation through the third party system.
  • Fixed Assets and Depreciation.
  • Any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
• Close the books in a timely manner on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. 
• Prepare for the year-end audit and coordinate with external auditors to get it done expeditiously.
• Prepare, review, and analyze internal and external financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Generate Student billing using a third party billing system (FACTS) and manage billing inquiries from parents.
• Perform monthly Revenue Recognition.
• Assess current practices and procedures, and make recommendations for improvements.
