The Harley School, a Nursery through Grade 12 independent school in Rochester, New York, with approximately 500 students, seeks a full-time PE and Wellness teacher for 2025-2026 to support students in Grades N-12. The Aquatics Program Coordinator PE teacher will work with students, faculty, staff, and parents to promote the wellness of students and safety of our aquatics program. Through an integrative and collaborative approach, the ideal candidate will promote a safe, healthy, and supportive learning environment that strengthens connections between home, school, and community. The successful candidate will work closely with the administration, the Department Chair of the PE program, the faculty, and parents in order to support and empower students. Duties and Responsibilities: - Contributing positively to a student-centered culture focused on learning and growth
- In collaboration with the Physical Education Department, develop and teach an effective Physical Education, health, and wellness program
- Coordinate School swim physical education programming
- Maintain proper health and safety standards, in accordance with School aquatics safety standards and guidelines.
- Working and communicating effectively with parents/guardians in formal and informal conferences, written reports/emails and newsletters
- Creating an inclusive learning environment through regular instruction, supportive interactions with students, and clear expectations for community behavior
- Collaborating and liaising with other professionals to discuss individual student needs
- Evaluating and accurately communicating student progress and learning plan
- Collaborating with other School teachers, educators, specialists, and staff members to develop curriculum, plan trips or special projects, and support students
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs lifeguards, swim instructors and clerks as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Coordinates with the maintenance department to conduct and ensure proper maintenance of the pool. Secures and schedules pool facilities. Maintains accurate records of pool chemical levels and facility maintenance.
- Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR training.
- Oversees and schedules swim classes and community swim.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the Head of School and Division Head
