Position Title:Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS)Appointment Type:FacultyJob Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:The Department of English Linguistics, in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking an Assistant or Associate Teaching Professor in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) to teach courses and provide guidance to undergraduate students seeking credentials in a pre-professional health program SLHS within their undergraduate degree in linguistics. Duties and responsibilities include 1) advising and mentoring undergraduate students studying SLHS; 2) course development and in-person teaching in SLHS on topics including phonetics and phonology, language and reading development in children, introduction to communication disorders, anatomy and physiology of speech and hearing, speech and hearing sciences, speech and language disorders, and clinical methods and observations; and 3) attendance at some staff meetings, workshops, and forums. This part-time position will be 50% FTE at a minimum and has an initial three-year contract with possible renewal determined by performance and department needs. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship. Required Minimum Qualifications:Assistant level

The English Department offers bachelors degree programs in English, Linguistics, and Technical Communication, as well asin partnership with the Department of World Languages and Culturesa minor in World Film Studies. On the graduate level, the department offers MA degrees in Literature; Rhetoric, Composition and Professional Communication,TESL/Applied Linguistics, and anMFA program in Creative Writing and the Environment. The department also offers PhD programs in Applied Linguistics and Technology and in Rhetoric and Professional Communication.
