  • Independently or as part of a team, conduct routine and/or non-routine audits
  • Interpret regulatory accounting laws and procedures to independently conduct cost recovery projects, accounting compliance investigations, and financial analysis of investor-owned public utility companies
  • Perform mathematical and statistical analysis of utility balance sheets and analyze rate impacts of utility cost recovery applications
  • Develop and conduct specialized audits and/or investigations of utility companies
  • Review secondary sources of data and information, including case precedents and research from other authoritative sources of information (e.g., Financial Accounting Standards Board, Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, etc.)
  • Develop recommendations based on findings resulting from audits or assigned tasks
  • Prepare and present expert testimony as witness in formal, adversarial hearings
  • Provide technical consultation to the Commission regarding utility accounting matters

5 yrs. exp. in auditing or accounting, which must have included 30 mos. auditing exp. in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies &/or procedures as specified on agency position description; 12 mos. exp. as audit team lead or auditor in charge.

-Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in accounting, business administration, computer science or related field; 3 yrs. exp. in auditing or accounting which must have included 18 mos. auditing exp. in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies &/or procedures as specified on agency position description; 12 mos. exp. as audit team lead or auditor in charge.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as External Auditor 2, 66462.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
