Plant Health Manager

Bring your leadership, management capability, and plant and greenery knowledge to join the team in Glen Flora, Texas as a Plant Health Manager. You’ll be managing and monitoring all aspects of the Plant Health department, to include pest management, disease control, weed control, planting media management, fertilizer management, irrigation control, and safety, along with some nursery production responsibilities. You’ll also be responsible for departmental budgetary management, regulatory compliance, recordkeeping, and reporting. You’ll get to: - Review & monitor the irrigation & fertility system, daily - Assure the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) and Global Harmonization System (GHS) are in compliance and training is being done - Review & analyze financial reports and key metrics on a regular basis - Assist with budget development and management - Assure all regulatory reporting to all relevant agencies is done with assistance from the General Manager - Participate in any regulatory inspections, or actions - Maintain work crew schedules and deployment of workforce - Make suggestions as to quality improvement of product - Procure needed inventory and assure proper storage, use, and control - Do a monthly inventory of all chemicals and Plant Health inventory products - Continuously monitor and implement production improvement methods - State applicator’s license is a plus but not required - Participate in the Safety Committee as required - Assist with annual physical inventory process - Work closely with Shrub, Tree and propagation managers to grow quality plants The competencies you’ll need include: - Analysis & ability to synthesize complex/diverse information - Problem solving - Project management - Interpersonal skills - Managing people - Leadership - Diversity - Strategic thinking - Quality improvement - Innovation What we need: - BA/BS degree, OR 1-2 years related experience/training, OR equivalent combination of education & experience - Current drivers’ license - Qualified Applicator license through the state a plus but not required - Any license or certificate that may be required by governmental agencies - Bilingual English/Spanish helpful but not required - Computer skills to include Windows, Oracle, Tiger Jill, others as needed - Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; be able to frequently stand, walk, sit; vision abilities for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus - Ability to work in all weather conditions
