Assistant Coach, Swimming and Diving ABOUT POMONA COLLEGE AND PITZER COLLEGE: Pomona College, established in 1887, is the founding college of the Claremont Colleges, a consortium of five undergraduate institutions and two graduate institutions in Claremont, CA, on the eastern edge of Los Angeles County. Pomona College has a comprehensive liberal arts curriculum spanning the arts, humanities, social sciences, math and sciences, emphasizing critical thinking and high impact practices. Pitzer College, established in 1963, was founded as an innovative liberal arts institution, initially specializing in social and behavioral sciences, but has since expanded to other fields. Pitzer's academic programs emphasize social justice, intercultural understanding and environmental sensitivity. The 21 varsity Pomona-Pitzer Athletic teams comprise of students from both colleges and compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) and the NCAA Division III. The Colleges have a combined enrollment of 2,600 students. POSITION SUMMARY: The assistant coach will assist the head coach and associate head coach in all aspects of a highly competitive, NCAA Division III sports program. The assistant coach will responsible for coaching, teaching during the school year, assist with coordinating aquatics for both pools during the school year and the summer. Recruiting, and various administrative tasks as assigned by the head coach and the department. Reporting directly to the Head Coach of Swimming & Diving, the Assistant Coach performs the following essential duties and responsibilities: 60% Coaching/Teaching (June 2025 â“ May 2026) Assistant Coach
40% Departmental Duties Interim Aquatics Coordinator â“ (June 2025-November 2025)
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree. A valid driver's license or equivalent means of reliable transportation to off-site meetings and events is required. Candidates must also have an acceptable driving record. Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred. REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are at least 40 hours per week on a variable schedule. Holiday, weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel will be required. Regular hours may vary due to needs of the College or division. ADDITIONAL POSITION DETAILS: This is a regular, full-time, exempt benefits eligible position. RATE: The starting salary rate for this role is $68,640 with a competitive benefits package.
