Job DescriptionMinneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for two (2) positions of Unlimited, Full-Time Apparel Design.Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:Teaching a full-time (32-credit annual load) in college-level courses in Apparel Design including: Garment Construction, Pattern Development, Industrial Sewing Methods, Fashion Imaging, and Advanced Garment Construction.Delivering instruction in multiple modalities, including on-campus, blended, and synchronous and asynchronous online formats.Participating in the development and implementation of curriculum and instructional materials within the Apparel Design department.Participating in student assessment. Assessment of student learning outcomes at the course, department, and college general education levels.Engaging in the college community through committee work and interdepartmental collaboration.Developing and revising courses and instructional materials.Committing to providing quality instruction and services to a diverse student population.Committing to consensus-driven decision making with colleagues in the Apparel Design department. Collegial and cooperative work relationships with colleagues in the department, department support staff, and all college personnel.The schedule may include daytime, evenings, or Saturdays.Minimum QualificationsEducation RequirementAssociate degree in apparel design, fashion design, clothing design, or textiles and clothingOccupational Experience RequirementFour full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid occupational experience in apparel design, pattern making, and productionRecency RequirementOne year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.Preferred QualificationCommunity College Experience â“ two or more years of teaching experience in an urban setting, community college, combined community and technical college, and/or similar environment.Experience in Adobe Software: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat.Demonstrated commitment to diversity and evidence of a strong and clear understanding and commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community colleges and their students, faculty, staff, administrators, and communities they serve.Student-centered â“ demonstrated contributions to student growth and development through retention measures, student mentoring, and student activities.Other RequirementsCurrent and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College for consideration.Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)VariesSalaryFull time faculty salaries currently range from $43,067- $94,542 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2023- 2025 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty.Special Instructions SummaryThe position will be open until filled. With its 31 institutions, including 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. The colleges and universities operate 54 campuses in 47 Minnesota communities and serve about 250,000 students in credit-based courses. Overall, the system produces about 33,500 graduates each year. In addition to credit-based courses, the system offers customized training programs that serve about 153,200 employees from 6,000 Minnesota businesses each year. The law creating the system was passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 1991 and went into effect July 1, 1995. The law merged the state's community colleges, technical colleges and state universities into one system. The system is separate from the University of Minnesota.
