![]() Principal Access Representative Job Summary Within the division of Patient Care Services, this position has 12-hour responsibility for the administrative functions required to support Patient Care Services. Bed Planning: Assigns beds and tracks all in-patient and out-patient admissions, transfers and discharges. Staffing: Coordinates and assigns nursing and clerical staff resources for 30 nursing units and Emergency Department, tracks personnel schedules, schedule changes, documents sick calls and replacement staff. Dispatch: Utilizes Epic EMR system to create assignment requests and dispatch staff. Contacts supervisors in appropriate departments immediately for escalations. Provide exceptional customer service. Emergency Preparedness: Initiation of Bed and Staff Poll, completion of HAvBED Polling information. Participates and provides bed availability and documentation during Code Green and Code Triage. Patient Property: Secures patient property in accordance with University policy and California state law regarding liability of damage or loss of patient property and the terms of safe keeping of abandoned property. ROLE OF POSITION: Applies knowledge, experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situations, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate situations. Participates in patient and staff education. Demonstrates leadership skills.
