Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departmentsâ™ access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE PHYSICS PROGRAM AT NORMANDALENormandale Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to join the Physics Department. The members of the Physics Department are committed to providing a solid foundation in physics to students of all backgrounds. Those hired into these positions will be expected to advance this goal through culturally responsive teaching, identifying barriers to success for students of color, and proposing effective solutions to eliminate those barriers.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree with a major in physics orMaster's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in physics.Preferred Qualifications Coursework beyond the Masterâ™s degreePost-secondary teaching experienceExperience serving diverse and underserved populationsAn understanding of the community college mission and its unique populationExperience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2LExperience in using innovative teaching and learning approachesExperience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroomExperience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible studentsEvidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusionDemonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees, developing assessment, and guiding studentsTo be qualified for this position, you must meet all of the minimum qualifications. About Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, System Office
With its 31 institutions, including 24 two-year colleges and seven state universities, the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system is the largest single provider of higher education in the state of Minnesota. The colleges and universities operate 54 campuses in 47 Minnesota communities and serve about 250,000 students in credit-based courses. Overall, the system produces about 33,500 graduates each year. In addition to credit-based courses, the system offers customized training programs that serve about 153,200 employees from 6,000 Minnesota businesses each year. The law creating the system was passed by the Minnesota Legislature in 1991 and went into effect July 1, 1995. The law merged the state's community colleges, technical colleges and state universities into one system. The system is separate from the University of Minnesota.
