Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Quality Assurance develops, implements, and monitors Quality Assurance Programs that incorporate essential elements. The incumbent is responsible for developing and updating a Quality Assurance Plan in accordance with accreditation standards of Titles 5: 18: 19 of Public Law 89-97 and amendments thereto; Titles 20: 45: and JCAH Standards, P.S.R.O. regulations, division, department, and serves as a resource in Quality Assurance techniques, theories, standards, criteria, regulations, and provides Quality Assurance information, research, or resources as requested and required, hospital policies and the State of New Jersey. Oversees the Division’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) Program Assist Division staff with performance improvement methodology, performance improvement initiatives; works with Division Staff on development and maintenance of a Performance Measure Dashboard or Report Card; develops reporting schedule for Division performance measures and initiatives; serves as a facilitator; teaching, orienting and familiarizing Division staff with the concept and components of the Division’s Quality Assurance Plan and Performance Improvement model; knowledgeable of Joint Commission and CMS compliance issues in the literature/media with and best practices for resolution; assists OAC and staff on developing the state psychiatric hospitals into a system of care as opposed to individual hospitals working in silo; reviews each hospital’s Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement and the hospital’s Violence Prevention Plan and Annual Assessment and ensures compliance with the law and actionable items identified and resolved.
REQUIREMENTS: Doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health discipline, psychiatric nursing, public health administration, or hospital administration
NOTE: A valid license to practice medicine in the State of New Jersey may be substituted for the above-referenced education.
EXPERIENCE:
NOTE: A Master's degree from an accredited college or university in a mental health discipline, psychiatric nursing, public health administration, or hospital administration supplemented by two additional years of experience in mental health-related research, teaching, or the provision and/or administration of mental health services may be substituted for the doctoral degree.
NOTE: Preference will be given to applicants who have experience with the supervision of the design, development and implementation of quality assurance and improvement programs in hospital systems.
