In support of the mission, goals and strategic priorities of the College, this position is responsible for supporting, maintaining and enhancing employee college enterprise-level software, database technology, and the availability of the underlying infrastructure. In consideration of the Information Technology philosophy of a customer-focused organization, the Director is responsible for assessing all current and candidate technology for the College to ensure reliability, security and supportability, including financial impact. Assessment activities must also recommend alternatives when selected technologies do not align with established standards or well integrate with planned or pre-existing technical platforms. The Director must anticipate the effect of upgrades and changes on the existing environment and must effectively plan for the integration of changes into the existing technology infrastructure. - Responsible for the daily management of technical staff, as well infrastructure services, for a large Community College. Plans and staffs the unit to effectively support the IT organization structures, policies and processes. Manages technical staff to ensure a timely response to needs and requirements of various functional areas at Harper College. Provides necessary technical support and training for information technology technical staff.
- Understands the institution's databases and data structures. Uses resources to seek optimal database delivery and integrate applications or data for enhanced reporting.
- Responsible for maintenance and support of the College's data repository (data warehouse/data lake) including participating in the governance process to ensure the integrity and value of the warehouse.
- Responsible for project and resource management with the ability to articulate project demands and recommend priorities. Reviews project feasibility and level of resources. Assigns projects and coordinates project activities with individual project managers and client department leaders involved with proposed projects to ensure cooperation and quality of implementation. Develops project plans and budgets that are consistent with the strategic technology plan for the College.
- Directs the selection and deployment of vendor supplied technologies. Prepares proposals, coordinates and/or conducts vendor negotiations and other activities related to vendor proposed software, platform or infrastructure as a service.
- Identifies College and stakeholder requirements, goals and constraints; recommends viable, sustainable and scalable technological solutions; assists in and writes system level specifications; supervises implementation of required technology; and assures successful day-to-day operation of the technology.
- Directs resources and activities in the management of diverse computing infrastructures, including administrative and academic infrastructure.
- Ensures the integrity of campus infrastructure environment. Establishes and maintains inventory of assets, infrastructure architecture, operational procedures and standards.
- Responsible for and coordinates infrastructure policies across College constituencies to safeguard information stored in digital format against accidental or unauthorized access.

- Provides CIO with monthly status report, including significant accomplishments, upcoming milestones, and pending issues.
- Develops and manages operating budgets as applicable.
- Keeps abreast of changes in technology functions and adopts innovations that lead to improvements for the College.
- Serves on committees and councils, task forces or project teams as directed. Attends appropriate professional meetings, seminars and conferences.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Supervision: Reports to the Chief Information Officer, oversees and supervises Cloud applications and environment, Employee ERP systems, and DBA staff. Education: - Master's Degree is required, preferably in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, math or related field.
Experience: - Ten years or more of progressive experience in a complex business and technology environment including 5 years of progressive experience in the management and delivery of system software solutions.
- In-depth familiarity with complex IT infrastructure, networking and computing environments, the deployment of enterprise-level software applications. Strong knowledge in the current trends of software platform delivery methods with proven success in the support and management of ERP applications.
- Must have a demonstrated track record of performance and achievement in large-scale system integration, implementation management, resource management and vendor management.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in managing higher education technology services, including cloud services
- Experience in Scrum, Kanban, SAFe or other Agile project management methodologies
- Managing multiple SaaS implementations and contract negotiations
