Job Description General Summary
Company Description NEW GRADUATE NURSES! Full Time rotating shift position in the Neuro Acute Unit! This is a 20 bed Neuro Acute Floor focusing on many neurological disorders under three services: Neurosurgey, General Neurology, and Stroke Neurology. Some of these diagnoses may be ischemic stroke, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, cervical fusions, lumber fusions, etc. Staffing mix on this floor include the Registered Nurse, Patient Care Technician, and Charge RN all working 12 hours shifts (7a-7p or 7p-7a). Nursing team works collaboratively with other services to safely get patients to a safe disposition of home or rehab. Patients on this floor range from being medically ready to be discharged or acutely ill and requiring a longer hospital stay. Some skills learned and utilized here include cardiac rhythm interpretation, neurological assessments, spinal cord assessments, pre-op and post op education, surgical dressing changes, surgical drains, wounds, tracheostomy care etc. Renowned as the academic flagship of the University of Maryland Medical System, our Magnet(r)-designated facility is a nationally recognized, academic medical center with opportunities across the continuum of care.
