![]() Finance Lecturer Posting Number: F-0960 College/Unit: College of Business Administration Home Department: Department of Finance and Law Employee Group: Fixed-Term Faculty - Academic Year Employment Status: Full-Time Position Type: 9 month (Academic Year) Position Classification: Fixed-Term Faculty Position Begin Date: 08/18/2025 Position End Date: Position Summary: The College of Business Administration at Central Michigan University invites applications for a finance fixed-term faculty member to begin service at the rank of Lecturer I, beginning August 18, 2025. The position is expected to teach four courses per semester but may receive a lighter teaching load in exchange for work as an Executive-in-Residence with our finance and Michigan Finance Scholars program. The position will be a contract/non-tenure track full-time position for the 2025-2026 academic year, with a renewable appointment possible. Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in finance at the graduate and undergraduate level. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in teaching Money and Capital Markets, International Finance, and Managerial Finance. The candidate may also be active outside of the classroom, involved in such things as promoting the finance program on and off campus, advising student clubs, leading career exploration trips, and advising student teams in collegiate team competitions. Also, the position involves one-on-one mentoring of students and building career pipelines with top employers-with the intent of developing and promoting CMUs finance offerings and strengthening partnerships on and off campus. Candidates are expected to teach and mentor students in the Michigan Finance Scholars Program. Candidates may also coach students through professional certification programs such as the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program. Required Qualifications: The candidate must have one of the following: (i) an earned masters degree in a business or other discipline related to finance, with significant work experience in finance or a related area or (ii) a relevant terminal degree (such as a Ph.D. or D.B.A in finance or related business field). The candidate must also satisfy the AACSB faculty qualification requirements and have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Preferred Qualifications: The preferred candidate has: (i) taught in online and face-to-face environments; (ii) experience coordinating or participating in finance competitions and similar events; (iii) significant practical experience related to corporate finance in a professional capacity; (iv) experience assisting students in internships and job placements; and (v) prior experience teaching money and capital markets, international finance, and managerial finance. About the Department: The CMU Department of Finance and Law is comprised of 7 tenured and tenure-track faculty, approximately 6 fixed-term faculty, also program directors in personal financial planning and real estate. The faculty have numerous diverse research interests and a history of quality publications. We offer majors in finance, personal financial planning, real estate, as well as minors in legal studies, finance, and real estate. An MBA emphasis in finance began Fall 2023. New faculty can access CRSP/Compustat, Audit Analytics, I/B/E/S, Eventus via WRDS, as well as our Bloomberg data subscriptions. Also, faculty members access all major mainstream and field journals through the library website.
