Engineer II (Campus Maintenance)

The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

Description

Oversees maintenance operations, ensures the reliability of campus infrastructure, and supports facility improvements. Here are some common job duties: Facility Maintenance & Repairs, Preventive Maintenance, and Project Management

Essential Accountabilities:

* Conducts routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

* Develops and implements maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failures and extend the lifespan of campus assets.

* Assists in planning and executing maintenance projects, including renovations and system upgrades.

* Works with other departments to coordinate maintenance efforts and support campus operations.

* Assists with infrastructure projects, including water distribution, energy management, and fire safety systems.

* Maintains detailed records of designs, test results, and engineering processes for future reference.

* Provides technical assistance to Maintenance Supervisor

* Performs other duties assigned.

ANNUAL RATE OF PAY RANGE: $70,425.00 - $91,550.00 - $114,440.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications).

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS/REGISTRATIONS:

Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Ability to analyze and resolve complex maintenance problems

* Strong attention to detail for inspections and compliance

* Familiarity with structural repairs, blueprint reading, and project planning

* Communicates effectively with faculty and staff regarding maintenance concerns

* Ability to handle urgent maintenance issues and coordinate disaster recovery efforts

* Works independently and collaboratively

Independent Judgement/Problem Solving

* Develops objectives and procedures for a specific program or area of responsibility. Day-to-day work and decisions do not need direct supervision but are reviewed by the supervisor. Refers strategic issues to the supervisor.

Customer Service Relationships

* Needs moderate communication skills to understand and address customer requests. Acknowledges and clarifies inquiries or complaints.

Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include:

* Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds

* Climbing stairs, ladders and scaffolding, and working at heights above thirty (30) feet

* Perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus

* Working in confined spaces

* Working within extreme temperature ranges
