Appointment Type: Limited FTE: 100 Position Summary: The Chief Information Officer provides leadership for the provision of all campus technology services at UW-River Falls. This position develops and communicates institutional strategic plans to ensure that resources are utilized and to provide effective, high-quality information technology services in support of the university's teaching, research, service, and administrative goals. The CIO is responsible for providing vision and leadership in planning, development, integration, maintenance, and support of information and instructional technology. Working collaboratively with campus constituents, the CIO helps set priorities for the deployment of technology and interacts directly with institutional leadership. This role typically manages IT services through subordinate directors and identifies changes and trends in computer and systems technology, interpreting their meaning to senior management. Areas of responsibility include technology services, help desk, IT service management, project management, technology procurement, budget management, technology contract management, computer and instructional labs, classroom technology, enterprise applications, application and development services, servers, storage area network, network and VoIP infrastructure, audio and media services, web services, information security, ID carding office, desktop/endpoint administration and support services, and other event-related technology support. Additional responsibilities include serving as Vice-Chair of the University Technology Council, participating as a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet and the University of Wisconsin System CIO Council, and representing the University's information technology interests at the regional, state, and national levels.
