Posted Job Title Clinical Research Nurse B/C (Department of Gastroenterology) Job Profile Title Clinical Research Nurse B Job Description Summary The Clinical Research Nurse in The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology/Department of Medicine will manage the coordination of investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored Phase I-IV clinical trials of novel therapies or currently available therapies used in novel ways. Duties include coordination, organization and maintenance of all documentation required by Sponsor or CRO; data entry; resolve data queries with Sponsor or CRO; recruit, screen and enroll potential study subjects from inpatient, outpatient and emergency room; management of patient care; participate in the conduct of audits; process and ship blood, stool and specimens; schedule patient visits and any necessary testing; obtain records required to complete case report forms; conduct initiation, monitoring and closeout visits with Sponsor or CRO; adhere to all Penn IRB and FDA guidelines; prepare and process all IRB documentation. In addition to managing multiple multi center-clinical trials, the clinical research nurse will work with partnering institutions on budgets. Occasional weekend work may be required as specified in patient research protocols. Clinical Research Nurse C In additional to the duties above the Clinical Research Nurse C will have limited supervision in the management of clinical trials and will need to use more independent judgement. Mentor research staff, providing guidance and support to enhance team performance. Lead regular PI and team meetings to discuss ongoing studies and progress. Provide education and support to patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed about the research. Deliver educational in-services to staff and other departments throughout Penn. Assist in the development of SOPs to streamline research processes. Position Contingent Upon Funding Qualifications Clinical Research Nurse B Bachelor's degree and 1-2 years of experience along with Registered Nurse with Licensure in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania without restriction or limitation required. BSN preferred. Clinical Research Nurse C Bachelor's degree and 2-3 years of experience along with Registered Nurse with Licensure in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania without restriction or limitation required. BSN preferred. Preferred: Clinical Research Nurse B Basic Life Support Certification (CPR) required and maintained every 2 years ACLS preferred and may be required in specific environments (ICU settings, ED, etc.) Effective problem-solving abilities Effective communication and writing skills Ability to multi-task Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently One-year clinical research experience with knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations Clinical Research Nurse C Basic Life Support Certification (CPR) required and maintained every 2 years ACLS preferred and may be required in specific environments (ICU settings, ED, etc.) Applicable Professional Certification preferred (ex. CCRP, CRN-BC, OCN) Effective problem-solving abilities Effective communication and writing skills Ability to multi-task Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations Job Location - City, State Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Department / School Perelman School of Medicine Pay Range $52,500.00 - $79,421.00 Annual Rate Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, and in alignment with salary ranges based on external market data for the job's level.
