Classification: Temporary, part-time facultyWorking Title: Adjunct Instructor - PhysicsBargaining Unit / Union: 210: Minnesota State College FacultyEmployment Condition: Unclassified - Limited Academic (Fixed Term)Compensation for under 5 credits is $1,650 per semester credit. Those teaching more than five credits are temporary part-time employees and can move to the faculty salary schedule.This adjunct position will remain open for 1 year to allow departments? access to candidate pools when there is a need to hire an adjunct to teach a course(s) during defined academic semester(s).ABOUT THE POSITIONS AND THE PHYSICS PROGRAM AT NORMANDALENormandale Community College is seeking an Adjunct Instructor to join the Physics Department. The members of the Physics Department are committed to providing a solid foundation in physics to students of all backgrounds. We believe in supporting a quality education experience that provides learning opportunities for our diverse student body.Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. Those hired into these positions will be expected to advance this goal through culturally responsive teaching, identifying barriers to success for students of color, and proposing effective solutions to eliminate those barriers.Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree with a major in physics orMaster's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in physics.Preferred Qualifications Coursework beyond the Master?s degreePost-secondary teaching experienceExperience serving diverse and underserved populationsAn understanding of the community college mission and its unique populationExperience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2LExperience in using innovative teaching and learning approachesExperience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroomExperience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students, including students of color, first-generation students, and Pell eligible studentsEvidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusionDemonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees, developing assessment, and guiding studentsTo be qualified for this position, you must meet all of the minimum qualifications.
