Admissions Specialist (HEOa) - Social Work POSITION DETAILS The Lehman College campus is located in the Bronx, New York and is a Senior College within the City University of New York (CUNY) system. Lehman is the only four-year public college in the Bronx and is recognized as a Hispanic-serving Institution. The college serves mainly undergraduate students preparing them for employment, the professions and further study. The Department of Social Work provides education for social work students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Attendance at staff development opportunities, as well as participation in department and school-wide meetings, is expected. The qualified candidate may perform additional service to the College, University, and community. The Social Work Programs at Lehman College, both the undergraduate and graduate programs, are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. The mission of both programs is to serve underserved urban communities and populations. The Department of Social Work is currently housed in the School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing (HS2N). The School of Health Sciences, Human Services and Nursing currently includes six departments: Exercise Science and Recreation; Health Promotion and Nutrition Sciences; Health Equity, Administration & Technology; Social Work; Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and Nursing. The school is also home to the CUNY Institute for Health Equity. Departments in the School actively engage with community and government partners to support evidence-based practices and health equity, with a special emphasis on urban populations. The faculty are also strongly committed to high quality teaching and preparation of ethical and skilled health and human service professionals. The Department invites applications for a full-time Undergraduate Social Work Program Admissions Specialist under the Higher Education Officer Assistant title, reporting directly to the Director of the Undergraduate Program and indirectly to the Chair of the Social Work Department. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the program?s growth and complex needs and ensuring effective advisement, recruitment, and leadership in the undergraduate social work program. Duties include but are not limited to:
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required. Bachelor?s Degree or BSW required; MSW preferred from a CSWE-accredited school of social work. ? Experience in leadership, recruitment, student advisement, and program development within an academic or agency-based setting preferred. ? Strong commitment to undergraduate social work education. ? Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with strong oral and written communication abilities. ? Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and various on and off-campus constituencies from diverse backgrounds. ? Strong decision-making skills and ability to exercise independent professional judgment; must be self-directed and capable of managing crisis situations and resolving conflicts. ? Excellent organization and time-management skills; ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment. Job Title Name: Admissions Specialist CUNY TITLE Higher Education Assistant FLSA Non-exempt COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS $86,645 - $90,375. Salary commensurate with education and experience. CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
