Director of Student Financial Services

Summary and Scope of Position:                                                                                  

 The Director of Student Financial Services provides leadership and guidance in managing the functional areas of the Office of Student Financial Services (SFS). The Director of Student Financial Services reports to the Vice President for Finance and Administration and is accountable for the accuracy and effectiveness of all data entry, data operations, federal reports as well as the reporting on key financial aid and accounts receivable data to both internal and pertinent external student service areas.

Specific Responsibilities:                                                                                                

• Hires, trains, and supervises SFS ­­staff on student accounts and financial aid
• Interprets and institutes student financial aid and accounts receivable policies and procedures to assure that the department complies with state, federal, and college regulations
• Ensures outstanding customer service 
• Responsible for overseeing the administration of all federal and state grant programs (PA and non-PA)
• Responsible for overseeing Veteran Affairs
• Responsible for overseeing the reconciliation of all financial aid and AR processing
• Conducts and complies with internal and external audit requirements and coordinates for a successful annual fiscal close and audit in coordination with the office of Finance
• Coordinates with the office of Finance on G5 drawdowns
• Participates in Admissions recruiting programs, Enrollment Leadership team, and Financial Aid events
• Maintains departmental budget
• Maintain and update SFS website
• Responsible for the completion of outside reporting:   FISAP, Title IV Recertification, WW Smith, NCAA, and NACUBO Benchmarking surveys
• Responsible for the disbursement of financial aid funds to student accounts
• Responsible for overseeing the AR collection efforts
• Responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Federal education loan program and the alternative loan program

• Responsible 1098T processing
• Participate in data standardization and data governance efforts on campus
• Member of the Bear 2 Bear Committee, President’s Cabinet, Standard and Governess Committee, Student Retention Committee and Campus Well-Being Committee

• Coordinate the student check-in process at move-in with relevant offices on campus
• Attend yearly conferences for professional development
• Other duties as assigned
