Position Summary: At the Long Island State Veterans Home, our Senior Accounting Assistants are responsible for ensuring implementation of accurate billing and collection practices to minimize the financial impact on receivables of the Home. The incumbent will be required to interface and work closely with all nursing home staff. Some contact with outside agencies and consulting firms may also be expected.
Duties of a Senior Accounting Assistant may include the following but are not limited to:
Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree from an accredited college plus a minimum of nine years nursing home billing and collection experience. In lieu of a Bachelor degree, an Associate Degree plus a minimum of fifteen years nursing home billing and collection experience. Experience with Medicare, Medicaid, NAMI billing, and collection work. Proficiency with various PC software, including Excel and Word. Preferred Qualifications: Experience using eMedNY/ePaces, FISS/DDE and ADL financial software (or equivalent NH billing software). Experience in the preparation of Medicaid applications, recert process and guidelines. Preferred knowledge of various financial reports and bookkeeping. Involvement with OMIG and various audits.
