Reporting to the Director, Student Life, this regular full-time support staff position will work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexible or extended hours during peak times.

Position Summary
Under general supervision, provide day-to-day support to the Student Life department. Student Life at KCC is committed to promoting student learning and development outside the classroom. Support is provided to the director of the department, students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders while fostering an atmosphere that is conductive to community building and student engagement.

Physical Demands
The job responsibilities are performed in an office area and presentation venues. Travel by car required. The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as independent mobility between work areas, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (8 - 45 pounds). Typically requires regular use of one or more physical senses of medium intensity and long duration. Must meet reasonable deadlines, quotas or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some mildly unpleasant situations.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Associate degree from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of relevant experience OR one (1) year post-secondary education from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of relevant experience OR three (3) years of relevant experience.At the time of application, attach unofficial transcripts showing successfully completed coursework, if applicable.
  2. Proficiency and competency with software, including Microsoft Office 365 Suite and web applications, such as WordPress, at an intermediate level or higher.
  3. Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  4. Strong organizational skills with an emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  5. Ability to work positively and respectfully with a diverse population.


Preferred but not Required
  1. Associate degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  2. Experience working in a community college environment.


Proposed Salary
According to the published support staff salary schedule, Classification Pay Grade 13, 2024-2025 hourly wage range, step one $21.12 to step six $27.03. New 2025-2026 hourly wage range: step one $22.28 to step six $28.52.Internal applicants may refer to Article 22, Section 5C. 2025-2026 rates to be posted soon.

Job Duties

Essential Function: DEPARTMENT AND STUDENT SUPPORT

Description:
  • Serve as the frontline support of the department for all walk-in and phone traffic.
  • Demonstrate and model excellent customer service to students, college employees, and other internal/external stakeholders, including assisting in the navigation of college resources.
  • Assist the Director with student employee daily delegation of tasks, training and guidance on daily tasks, issue feedback on daily work assignments limited to review and minor corrections of work.
  • Familiarize student employees with Student Life procedures.
  • Work independently to coordinate and track community member visits on campus via table reservations.
  • Foster an atmosphere in the Student Life lounge that is conductive to community building and student engagement.
  • Collect accurate data points for the Director to analyze, including, but not limited to, program participation, student engagement through social media, Registered Student Organization engagement, and student feedback.
  • Track budget expenses and revenues for the department as well as Registered Student Organizations.
  • Track budget expenses and revenues and initiate check requests and purchase requisitions for the department.
  • Provide campus tours to enrolled students.

Essential Function: EVENTS AND PROGRAMMING

Description:
  • Coordinate and assist with department-led events, assist with student-led events, and provide support to other student-centered events on campus.
  • Initiate and coordinate campus programing details such as room reservations, food service, volunteers, marketing requests, proofreading of marketing materials and creating spreadsheets for event organization and data collection.
  • Make purchase recommendations for event supplies.
  • Track the purchasing, vendor confirmation, and marketing campaign development processes for events and programs.

Essential Function: REGISTERED STUDENT ORGANIZATION SUPPORT

Description:
  • Maintain the records of Registered Student Organizations including which are active or inactive each semester.
  • Monitor membership of Registered Student Organizations.
  • Serve as liaison for organization Advisors to find guidance or connect with students.
  • Advocate for student groups to grow ideas and initiatives.
  • Process cash and deposits for student organizations.
  • Track budget expenses and revenues for all Registered Student Organizations.

Essential Function: MEDIA

Description:
  • Help maintain Student Life social media accounts for advertising events and generate growth/continuous engagement.
  • Coordinate with Marketing and Communications team to share initiatives on main Kellogg Community College social media accounts.
  • Proofread Student Life marketing materials, prior to Director approval.
  • Maintain Student Life webpages for accuracy.
  • Proofread Student Life marketing materials.
  • Work independently to formulate and send weekly text messages informing individuals about events on campus.
