Job Description Information Systems Specialist II (UAB Facilities) The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Description Responsible for managing and supporting information systems within a structured framework. This role involves analyzing system requirements, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and assisting in the development, maintenance, and optimization of software applications and network infrastructure. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE: * Manages technical aspects of departmental systems. * Provides troubleshooting and assistance for hardware, software, and network-related issues * Manages and maintains computer systems, networks, and software applications. * Assists in the development, testing, and implementation of software applications. * Maintains records of system configurations, updates, and troubleshooting procedures. * Provides guidance and training to users on system functionalities and best practices. * Develops scripts or automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and improve workflow efficiency. * Performs other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: * Understands network protocols, system architecture, and cybersecurity principles. * Familiar with various operating systems, databases, and enterprise applications. * Knowledge of data storage, retrieval, and security best practices. * Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues efficiently. * Experience with coding, system integration, and automation tools. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team * Ability to use personal computer, cell phone, tablet and other devices * Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical reports and user support. * Detail oriented * Organizational skills * Prioritization skills * Aptitude for analyzing complex technical issues and implementing effective solutions. * Ensures accuracy in system configurations, security protocols, and troubleshooting processes. * Ability to provide after-hours technical support on an as-needed basis including early mornings or evenings to assist night shift operations and accommodate scheduled maintenance, while understanding this is not an on-call position. * Ability to provide effective remote support through phone, video calls, including FaceTime, and remote software access to troubleshoot and resolve user issues from offsite locations. * Ability to partner with third-party vendors including printer technicians, Dell support, and other external service providers to coordinate effective technical support and maintain smooth operations for end users. Starting Annual Pay: $47,665.00 - $69,000.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications) QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement. MVR: Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). PERSONAL: Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include: * Lifting and carrying a minimum of twenty (20) pounds * Climbing stairs * Performing tasks requiring bending, standing, stooping, kneeling and extensive walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus. * Working in confined spaces. * Working within extreme temperature ranges. * Incomplete job profiles will not be processed.
