Job Summary
The Sr. Database Administrator is responsible for the ongoing management, optimization, and support of Community Health Choice's database systems across both on-premises and cloud environments. This includes administration of Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, Power BI/Fabric, and Azure-based database services. The ideal candidate will possess advanced technical skills, a proactive mindset for performance tuning and risk mitigation, and the ability to function independently with minimal supervision.
Availability for after-hours support and strong troubleshooting capabilities are essential.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND CORE COMPETENCIES
Monitoring and Performance Analysis
Independently conduct SQL Server performance tuning, capacity planning, and system optimization.
Monitor and validate success of weekly full, differential, and transaction log backups; resolve issues proactively.
Proactively work to mitigate risks within the database environment and adapt to changing priorities.
System Upgrades & Collaboration
Partner with application teams for new application testing and database implementation in production environments.
Schedule and execute SQL server maintenance in alignment with ITIL best practices.
Documentation and Incident Management
Deliver end-to-end technical support and resolution for database incidents
Participate in Disaster Recovery planning and testing initiatives
Database Configuration and Management
Respond to and manage database requests via ServiceNow
Install, configure, and maintain databases; manage SQL objects and user access controls according to the team runbook.
Other Duties as Assigned
Actively contributes to the achievement of departmental goals, as identified in the Department's annual business plan, including specific departmental process improvement plans.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Specialized Training/Licensure:
' Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field required.
' ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification Required or Must obtain within 6 months of hire required.
' Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate preferred.
Work Experience (Years and Area):
' 4 Years in Microsoft SQL Database management, including one or more of the following: SSRS, SSAS, SSIS, Azure Fabric
Software Proficiencies:
' Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) SolarWinds DPA or equivalent monitoring tool.
