SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Rowan College at Burlington County is looking for individuals interested in tutoring our diverse population of students. Tutors will provide small-group and individual tutorial assistance for existing course curriculum. Tutors also aid in the development of students' self-esteem, learning, study strategies, and critical thinking skills. Tutors will work with students to identify their areas of strength and to help students take accountability for their educational choices and actions.Tutoring includes, but is not limited to, reviewing class materials, assisting with written assignments, discussing texts, or working on solutions to problems in Mathematics, English, Science, Humanities, or Social Sciences. Tutoring is designed to supplement regular classroom instruction, so tutors must be knowledgeable about the content of specific subjects to assist students in increasing their academic skills and understanding. Other requirements include strong communication and interpersonal skills, proficiency in subject matter, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, familiarity with academic support strategies, and basic computer literacy for virtual or hybrid tutoring environments. |
