Primary Care Physician - Oregon State Hospital, Salem

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:  

You must possess, or have the ability to obtain:  

• Board certified or board eligible in Family Medicine, or Internal Medicine    

• Satisfactory completion of a residency program in Internal or Family Medicine in the United States or Canada  

• Physician's license issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain the licensure throughout employment  

• MD and DO's are both encouraged to apply.

• Clinical Expertise in Primary Care 
  Demonstrated proficiency in providing comprehensive general medical care, including performing office procedures, interpreting diagnostic studies (e.g., ECGs, x-rays), and managing complex medical needs in both clinic and inpatient settings. 

• Collaborative and Consultative Approach 
  Ability to effectively consult with psychiatrists, unit staff, and other healthcare professionals, while also facilitating medical referrals and interpreting specialist recommendations to support integrated patient care. 

• Strong Communication Skills 
  Capable of engaging with patients, families, and external agencies to promote patient well-being, including providing medical updates, clarifying treatment plans, and addressing concerns in a professional and compassionate manner. 

• Commitment to Professional Development and Hospital Participation 
  Willingness to serve on committees, attend departmental meetings and training, and contribute to the broader hospital community through leadership and collaboration.

• The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%. Review the Classification and Compensation page for more details on the classification.
