The Senior School at Crofton House is defined by exceptional teachers who bring a collaborative, inquiry-based, and student-centered approach to every subject. Through our educational program, students strengthen their critical thinking and problem-solving skills in well-equipped, bright, and technology-rich learning environments. We are currently seeking a Mandarin teacher to join our On-Call list for the 2025/26 school year.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

• Teacher-on-call (Grade 8 - 12)

• Leave detailed notes for teacher following each day

• Support with supervision of students during non-instructional time

• Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff as required 

• Provide personalized instruction and learning support for individual students as required

• Participate in co-curricular activities and clubs as required 

• Understand and implement all health and safety routines 

• Other duties assigned as required

Qualifications:

• Essential: B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteria

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a Mandarin focus and qualifications to teach at an intermediate and senior level

• Experience as a Mandarin Teacher at a senior school level

• A comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Education documents

• Knowledge of the Chinese Made Easy, QTalk, and Ponddy, an asset

• Experience in an independent school, an asset

• An awareness of the learning styles of girls and young women

• Collaborative and energetic with a passion for teaching

• Committed to the craft of teaching, best practices, and standards of professional practice

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Legally entitled to work in Canada

Compensation: Daily rate of $326 ($163 for a ½ day)
