Director of Behavioral Health – Westchester Medical Center

 

Westchester Medical Center, the flagship of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), is seeking an experienced and visionary director of behavioral health to lead daily operations and patient care services in our Behavioral Health Center. As the director of behavioral health, you will oversee nursing and patient care operations for the Behavioral Health Center, supervising a multidisciplinary team of nursing, professional, clerical and ancillary staff. You will serve as a strategic partner to senior administration while ensuring excellence in patient-centered care, staff development and operational performance. When the Sr. director is unavailable, you will step in as the accountable leader, driving clinical and administrative initiatives across the service lines.

 

Key responsibilities include: 

• Providing daily operational leadership of nursing and patient care in the Behavioral Health Center
• Supervising, coordinating and directing staff to maintain high standards of care
• Leading evaluation and improvement of clinical practice, ensuring alignment with professional standards
• Establishing staff qualifications and coordinate education programs to foster growth and competency
• Driving implementation of policies, procedures and quality improvement initiatives
• Actively participating in peer review, labor-management conferences and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Recommending and establishing appropriate staffing models through ongoing needs assessment
• Supporting budget development and resource allocation for the department
• Representing the Behavioral Health Center on hospital and medical board committees
• Monitoring performance and outcomes, making data-driven recommendations to advance patient care

To be considered, we require:

• Minimum six years of professional nursing experience, with at least three years in a supervisory leadership role
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing
• Psychiatric nursing experience
• Valid New York State license and current registration as a registered professional nurse
