Tax Manager

Job Summary:

The Tax Manager at Stonehenge Consulting oversees accurate tax filings and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role involves reviewing tax returns and workpapers, staying current on tax law changes, and advising clients and internal teams. The Tax Manager leads and mentors a team of tax professionals, optimizing tax processes, improving efficiency, and reducing errors. Additionally, they represent Stonehenge Consulting at industry events to build business relationships and enhance the firm's visibility.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Tax and Compliance 

• Oversee the preparation of tax filings and ensure that all tax-related workbooks and client-provided information are accurate and complete.
• Prepare and submit tax filings for both personal and business accounts within the assigned portfolio.
• Review workpapers, supporting documentation, and tax returns to verify compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws, ensuring that all relevant information is considered and correct.
• Ensure all tax returns are completed and reviewed before the deadline. 
• Conduct thorough research of tax issues, including new tax codes, regulations, and IRS rulings, to advise clients and internal teams effectively.

Leadership

• Provide guidance and mentorship to staff members to foster their professional growth, helping them develop technical expertise in tax preparation, filing procedures, and client relations.
• Conduct regular training sessions, feedback meetings, and performance reviews to help team members enhance their technical skills and knowledge of tax-related matters.
• Collaborate with leadership to identify areas where tax preparation processes can be streamlined or made more efficient.

Communication 

• Manage and nurture client relationships within their portfolio and provide support for client communications on behalf of their staff when needed.
• Work with the CAS department to provide advisory services to clients, helping them make informed business decisions related to their tax planning.
• Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance visibility and create potential business leads.
• Possess a deep understanding of all Stonehenge products and services, with the ability to identify opportunities for clients to benefit from additional offerings.
