Development Manager

Position Summary:

The Development Manager (DM) is responsible for managing St. Andrew’s School’s fundraising operations and donor engagement systems. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), this results-driven and detail-oriented professional leads the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising activities that advance the school’s development goals. The DM ensures effective donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies; manages development communications, systems, and events; and provides leadership to staff, volunteers, and board members engaged in fundraising.

Core Competencies & Responsibilities:

• Fundraising Strategy & Donor Engagement
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of annual fundraising initiatives, ensuring cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities are implemented on schedule.
    
  • Partner with the CDO and Head of School to develop donor strategies and ensure follow-through on cultivation and solicitation plans.
  • Direct the preparation of solicitor materials and briefings for leadership and volunteers.
  • Oversee donor recognition, stewardship events, and communications to strengthen long-term donor relationships.
    
• Development Communications & Reporting
  • Lead the creation, review, and distribution of donor appeals, stewardship letters, and impact communications.
  • Supervise grant proposal preparation, ensuring timely submission and accurate reporting.
  • Produce regular reports and dashboards on annual fund progress and donor engagement activity for the CDO, Head of School, and Board.
    
• Board & Volunteer Leadership
  • Manage Development Committee logistics, including scheduling, agendas, materials, and tracking follow-up on action items.
  • Partner with the CDO to ensure board and volunteer leaders are equipped with timely data, talking points, and strategy updates.
  • Hold accountability for prospect follow-up and engagement actions by board and committee members.
• Prospect Research & Pipeline Development
  • Lead prospect research efforts, maintaining an updated donor pipeline aligned to fundraising priorities.
  • Oversee donor database systems, ensuring accurate entry, coding, and tracking of all gifts and interactions.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation for tax credit programs and other regulated giving channels.
• Events & Donor Experiences
  • Manage all logistics for cultivation and stewardship events, including planning, vendor coordination, volunteer assignments, and follow-up communications.
  • Oversee donor tours and on-campus experiences to ensure consistent and compelling storytelling about the school’s mission and impact.
  • Provide leadership presence at events, ensuring execution aligns with fundraising and relationship-building goals.
    
• Systems & Operational Management
  • Oversee the development office’s administrative systems and processes to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Manage gift entry, acknowledgments, and data integrity within the donor database.
  • Supervise the creation and implementation of timelines, checklists, and workflows for all fundraising activities.
  • Ensure compliance with best practices in gift processing, reporting, and donor stewardship.
