Education & Experience: - Graduate of an accredited medical school with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.
- Completion of an approved residency program in their field.
- License to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
- Board certified in their field.
- Certified in Basic Life Support techniques.
Additional Requirements: Requires an acceptable background check to include state and local criminal check; satisfactory results from a pre-employment medical evaluation and substance abuse testing and is subject to random alcohol and controlled substance testing. As a condition of continued employment, you must complete a state mandated application for credentialing and recertification. Required Knowledge: - Provide health care services to patients, families, and communities aimed at preventing health problems or maintaining health.
- Perform all medical, diagnostic, and surgical procedures considered essential for the area of practice.
- Gather essential and accurate information about patients and their conditions through history taking, physical examination, and the use of laboratory data, imaging, and other tests.
- Organize and prioritize responsibilities to provide care that is safe, effective, and efficient. Interpret laboratory data, imaging studies, and other tests required for the area of practice.
- Make informed decisions about diagnostic and therapeutic interventions based on patient information and preferences, up-to-date scientific evidence, and clinical judgment.
- Develop and carry out patient management plans aimed at preventing, maintaining, or improving health problems and/or outcomes.
- Knowledge of the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to ensure privacy and safeguard patient information.
- Considerable knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes meeting quality standards for service.
- General knowledge of providing and documenting healthcare using electronic health records (EHR).
Required Skills: - Utilize a personal computer with word processing, spreadsheet, and related software to effectively complete a variety of financial tasks with reasonable speed and accuracy.
- Plan and organize daily work routine. Estimates expected time of completion of elements of work and establish a personal schedule accordingly. Implements work activities in accordance with priorities and estimated schedules.
- Demonstrate the ability to engage with a variety of other health care professionals in a manner that optimizes safe, effective, patient- and population-centered care.
- Work effectively with other health professionals to provide collaborative, patient-centered care while maintaining a climate of mutual respect, dignity, diversity, ethical integrity, and trust.
- Demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that result in the effective exchange of information and collaboration with patients, their families, and health professionals.
- Evaluate the best method of research and then exercise appropriate judgment in establishing priorities and resolving complex matters. Consider the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
Physical Demands: Requires the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time on the keyboard or workstation. |
