Executive Director of Nursing, Emergency Services

Wellstar MCG Health a level 1 Trauma and Medical Academic center, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director of Nursing (EDON) to lead our high-acuity, fast-paced Emergency Department - one of the busiest and most advanced in the region.

As the Executive Leader of the Emergency Department, you’ll:

• Drive continued improvement in front-end performance metrics — reducing LWBS, LOS, and elevating patient experience.
• Lead through a period of high visibility and focus as the ED advances operational excellence and prepares for Joint Commission readiness.
• Support the organization’s Magnet® journey and culture of shared governance.
• Partner closely with a CNO and ED Chair who share a strong foundation in emergency nursing, fostering exceptional collaboration and physician-nurse alignment.
• Strengthen team engagement, retention, and growth as the department onboards new nurses and continues to build a high-performing culture.

Ideal Background:

• Proven success leading a large, high-volume Emergency Department or trauma service line.
• Director-level leadership experience required; prior trauma or academic medical center experience preferred.
• Expertise in improving throughput, patient satisfaction, and operational performance.
• Strong people leadership with the ability to mentor new leaders and stabilize staffing in a high-demand environment.
