POSITION DETAILS

The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master?s Degree (27 months program). Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Research and Strategy, the Research Programs Specialist at the CUNY School of Medicine will be responsible for a broad range of activities related to research and research training.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

• Develops, coordinates, and is responsible for all medical student research compendia, presentations, and symposia, including Student Research Day, Summer Research presentations, Pre-matriculation poster presentations, and Spring symposia. Leads critical event planning operations.
• Supports the Principal Investigators in the coordination of the NY Center for Translation Research and Health. Works with all Program Managers, including the Lead Program Manager, in fulfilling the objectives of the Center. May interface with the NIH Program Official when needed.
• Serves as the main Office of Research Liaison with the Communications department. Writes and updates material for the research website. Provides information for brochures and seminar announcements, and liaises with the webmaster for posting.
• Prepares and disseminates written and verbal communications with students about fellowships, speakers, and panelists, including emails and mailings.
• Manages and maintains a centralized database tracking medical student research activity, including publications, presentations, and travel.
• Designs and manages REDCap submission systems for over 15 internal and external fellowship programs, ensuring data integrity and accessibility. Coordinates with the Finance Office to establish a process for disbursing awards and travel stipends to the students.
• Design, program, and manage data for all Office of Research Redcap instruments for internal and external student research opportunities, as well as travel stipends.
• Manages the budget and coordinates purchasing for the Office of Research.
• Supervises and trains support staff and student workers.
• Manages onboarding and implementing training workshops for college assistants.
• Retrieves, analyzes, and utilizes relevant data to inform planning, decision-making, and management practice.
• Works with the Sr. Associate Dean of Research to develop and implement innovative solutions to research and students? research needs.
• Serve as a resource for institutional procedures, writing & editing, and Redcap Support.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Sr. Associate Dean for Research.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and four years' related experience required.

Preferred:

• The successful candidate will commit to improving student research outcomes, possess strong administrative skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the Office of Research effectively, work well with faculty, staff, and students, meet deadlines, and work independently.
• The candidate should possess and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including students, faculty, and staff.
• They should have experience placing students in internships, strong organizational skills, strong communication skills, and knowledge of research opportunities.

• May oversee one or more facilities, participating in budgeting, planning, and monitoring, and assuring availability of needed tools and equipment
• Serves as a consultant and resource to faculty and staff on planning and administering research projects

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $86,741 - $94,909

Salary commensurate with education and experience.
