Available Title(s): 161-NN_FACULTY - Scholarly Assistant Professor - Career Business Title: Assistant Professor of English, Career Track (Scholarly Sub-track) Employee Type: Faculty (+) (Fixed Term) Position Term: 9 Month - Summer Position Details: The Opportunity: The English Department at Washington State University invites applications for an Assistant Professor, Career track (Scholarly Sub-track) faculty position in Pullman, WA, with a specialty in English Education. This position is a fixed-term, nine-month, three-year appointment with possibility of renewal. We seek applicants who will oversee and teach a range of courses in the English Education track. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2026. Job duties:

About English Department: The successful candidate will join the Department of English, which has roughly 200 undergraduate majors in English, including about 40 in English Education or Academic Interest. Combined with about 20 M.A. and Ph.D. students, they help to make English the third-largest teaching unit in the College of Arts and Sciences. More than 8000 undergraduates take classes in English each year, with courses ranging from first-year writing to advanced seminars. Our students also pursue a wide range of internships.
