Job Summary: This is a 1-year fixed-term position, eligible for renewal based on grant funding. Northeastern University's Institute for Experiential AI has established a position for a ML Performance Engineer, Computational Biology with the AI and Life Sciences team. The ML Performance Engineer will be based out of the Boston campus, MA, conduct applied research, prepare work for submission to journal/conference publications, and contribute to extramural funding applications. This position has a three-year appointment, renewable yearly subject to availability of funding. The ML Performance Engineer will work on projects that will include applications of neural networks to the analysis of multi-omics data, models for predicting phenotypes using genotype data, biological data integration, etc. Participation in these projects will include scientific programming, data analysis, manuscript preparation, meeting with collaborators, mentoring graduate students, etc. In particular, the ML Performance Engineer hired for this position will work with Ayan Paul at EAI and is expected to develop AI algorithms for drug discovery with a combination of public and proprietary data, develop AI algorithms for variant effect prediction with models of alternative splicing, work with graduate students working on the same project, and collaborate with academic and industry partners of EAI. The ML Performance Engineer will actively collaborate on projects with the Computational Biology group led by Predrag Radivojac at Khoury College, Northeastern University and Peter Castaldi at Brigham & Women's Hospital.
