Director of Nursing

Step into a key leadership role with Village Manor as the Director of Nursing, supporting exceptional long-term and skilled nursing care in Abilene, Kansas.

The Position

• The Director of Nursing is responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing the Nursing Services Department in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Reporting to the Executive Director of Long-Term Care, this leader will oversee two direct reports and approximately 48 FTEs.
• The Director of Nursing oversees the implementation of resident care policies, coordinates with the interdisciplinary team, and maintains accountability for the quality of care provided by the facility’s nursing staff. Tasked with recruitment and retention initiatives. 
• Other duties include maintaining day-to-day operations of the department, responding to patient and family concerns, and overseeing staff scheduling.
• Seeking a skilled and highly knowledgeable leader in the field of Long-Term Care/Skilled Nursing. The ideal candidate will be an approachable and transparent leader who is also capable of holding staff accountable. They should be a go-getter with strong energy and a genuine passion for their work.

Requirements

• BSN required.
• An active Kansas RN licensis e required.
• Minimum of three years of nursing experience and at least two years of leadership experience in healthcare operations, with direct oversight in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility, is strongly preferred.

The Organization

• Village Manor, part of Memorial Health System in Abilene, Kansas, is a full-service long-term care and rehabilitation community dedicated to resident-centered living. The facility provides a full continuum of care, including skilled nursing, short-term recovery, memory care, adult-day services, and on-site therapy.
• Village Manor joined Memorial Health System in 2003 and later underwent major renovations designed to enhance comfort, community, and a home-like environment. The redesign introduced residential “neighborhoods,” kitchenettes, living areas, family dining rooms, and added amenities such as a chapel, library, garden space, and a planned soda-shop area.
• The 75-bed nursing facility offers both private and semi-private rooms, with services tailored to support long-term residents, short-term post-acute patients, and individuals requiring specialized memory care. The Special Care Unit provides a secure, supportive environment for residents with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia, staffed by specially trained caregivers.
• Village Manor’s service portfolio includes skilled nursing care, short-term rehabilitation, adult-day care, respite services, and coordinated physical, occupational, and speech therapy in partnership with Memorial Health System Rehabilitation. Residents benefit from immediate access to the nearby hospital and physician clinics for higher-level care needs.
