Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Emergency Medicine

Adventist HealthCare’s White Oak Medical Center is hiring a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for our Emergency Department in Silver Spring, MD. Qualified candidates will be eligible for up to a $10,000 sign-on bonus.

White Oak Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist for our Emergency Department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing.

As a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist you will:
• Evaluate the appropriateness and effectiveness of the patient’s medications
• Follow the patient’s progress to determine the effects of the patient’s medications on his or her health
• Consult with the patient’s physicians and other health care providers in selecting the medication therapy that best meets the patient’s needs and contributes effectively to the overall therapy goals
• Review and verify physician orders for appropriateness
• Participate in Patient care rounds
• Counsel and educate patients about their medications
• Serve as a preceptor for Pharmacy resident and students
• Educate pharmacists, nurses and physicians
• Participate in hospital committees
• Participate in Pharmacy Staff monthly meetings and weekly huddles
• Emergency Code participation (ACLS and PALs trained)
• Oversee Medication History pharmacy technicians
