| Position Accountabilities and Essential Functions: The successful candidate must demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion in students, faculty and staff. Position Summary The Counselor will develop an inclusive and equitable program to support student mental health and wellness that aligns with Delta's commitment to whole-person development and student success. Working closely with the Director of Student Support, this position will provide campus counseling and manage the operations to ensure access to mental health support for students. This position will work to develop and deliver remote and face-to-face mental health services, oversee mental health interns, manage confidential mental health records, develop departmental policies and procedures, and educate the campus community regarding student mental health needs and best practices. This position will also network with regional providers to create a referral system for students with acute mental health or clinical intervention needs. The Counselor provides backup support for students pursuing a leave of absence, receiving accommodations, and/or who are experiencing basic needs insecurity as needed. In compliance with the ethical guidelines of the American Counselor Association the Counselor provides direct support services to students in a comprehensive retention effort involving assessment and Student Support System. Activities include career exploration, decision-making and personal counseling within a learning centered environment focusing on Delta College's strategic initiatives. The Counselor will exhibit superior customer service skills and professionalism in their daily interaction and communication with students and colleagues.
