| Job Description The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a PATIENT ACCOUNTS COORDINATOR for the School of Dentistry. This role supports the School of Dentistry Business Office by managing third-party billing activities, including claim submission, follow-up, and resolution with insurance payers. The Patient Accounts Coordinator works closely with clinical teams and payers to resolve denials, address billing issues, and ensure timely reimbursement while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and strong customer service for patients. (Hourly Rate: $15.00 - $24.40) Bachelor's degree in a related field. Work experience may substitute for education requirement. Hard Skills: Insurance claim submission, follow-up, and denial resolution for third-party payers Proficiency with billing systems/EHRs and payer portals (e.g., claims, EOBs, adjustments) Knowledge of CPT/CDT, ICD-10 codes, and billing compliance requirements. Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy Effective communication with patients, payers, and clinical staff Time management and ability to prioritize a high-volume workload.
