Course Aide

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, a world-renowned research and educational institution located on the North Shore of Long Island, is searching for candidates for several summer laboratory course aide positions.  This is an excellent opportunity for college students majoring in biology.  Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is seeking a hardworking individual for the position of Course Aide. 

• Assisting the instructor during summer courses
• Maintaining inventory levels of chemicals and disposables
• Moving laboratory equipment into and out of lab spaces (involves unpacking, setting up, and packing up materials)
• Cleaning and autoclaving glassware
• Preparing solutions and media for the lab
• Perform general clerical duties as assigned by the instructor
• Performing other general tasks as needed by the instructor

Education: College student majoring in biology preferably a Junior or Senior.

Availability: Work a full-time (35 hours) from mid-May until mid-August.  Occasional weekend work will be necessary for this position, as well as the need for the person being able to work on the 4^th of July and Juneteenth. 

Experience: Prior experience working in a laboratory environment. 

Other requirements: Must have a clean, valid driver's license; use of a personal vehicle required.  Ability to work occasional weekends and holidays, including the 4^th of July and Juneteenth necessary.   Ability to lift and/or carry laboratory equipment.

Compensation 
The hourly rate for this role is $18.50. The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future. When determining a base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., years of relevant experience, education, credentials, and internal equity).
