![]() AY26 - Nursing Instructor, Psychiatric/Mental Health LOS ANGELES COMMUNITY COLLEGE DISTRICT PROFESSIONAL OPPORTUNITIES Los Angeles Harbor College AY26- Nursing Instructor, Psychiatric Mental Health Full-time Tenure Track, C-basis DEPARTMENT Los Angeles Harbor College (LAHC) is one of nine colleges in the Los Angeles Community College District (LAHC) and is located in the city of Wilmington, near the Port of LA. LAHC offers a wide range of academic and career technical education programs and transfers its students to the campuses of the CSU and UC systems as well as private institutions. The nursing program is located within the division of Health Sciences and is approved by the CA-BRN and had been nationally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) since 1997. The nursing program has consistently maintained an NCLEX first time pass rate that exceeds the state and national average. We are seeking candidates who are progressive thinkers, skilled in the use of technology and simulation, and have a holistic approach to patient care. Having sensitivity to and understanding of the diversity of community college students and patients (academic, socioeconomic, cultural, age, gender, ethnicity, etc.) is a must. Candidates must have a desire to share creative strategies that will guide the educational process for future nurses. Our faculty is a dynamic team committed to student retention and successful completion. JOB DESCRIPTION In accordance with LACCD's mission; as a community college, instruction at LAHC focuses on creating pathways for certificates, degrees, and transfer. Faculty members at LAHC are expected to create a learning-centered environment that supports students in fulfilling their educational goals. The assignment involves curriculum development and evaluation, web-enhanced course development, attendance of department and discipline meetings, professional activities, and college committee work. The ideal candidate for this position will possess current clinical and classroom skills in registered nursing education in the area of Psychiatric Mental Health nursing. Interested individuals who meet the LACCD and CA BRN minimum qualifications with required training and experience in Psychiatric Mental Health are invited to apply for this position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. At least one year of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care within the last five years in Medical-Surgical Nursing area;or 2. Minimum one year teaching experience (two academic semesters or three quarters) of registered nurse level clinical teaching experience in med/surg or its equivalent that demonstrates clinical competency and completion of at least one year of experience teaching courses related to med/surg or a course which includes practice in teaching nursing. Desired Qualifications: ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENT - COVID 19 VACCINATION: Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated and complete a baseline test or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees' policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date. Duties & Responsibilities: Salary and Benefits The current starting range is from $76.960 - $143,000. The doctoral differential is $4,870 per academic year. The district provides an excellent benefits package including medical, vision, dental, and life insurance to the employee and eligible dependents.
