Finance Specialist - Lead

Description of Work:

• Serve in a customer-facing, consultative role and be responsible for providing finance support in a timely and accurate manner and in compliance with all applicable institutional, UNL, State, and Federal regulations, policies, and guidelines.
• Primarily execute and review complex travel, procurement, contracts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting, foundation, budgeting, and asset management transactions.
• Work closely with employees within the departments served, as well as functional office staff, providing a high level of customer service and professionalism in all interactions.
• Function under limited supervision and be expected to utilize sophisticated technology to provide professional services.
• Supervise Finance employees.
• Work with direct reports to identify and facilitate ongoing professional development opportunities.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and four years of related finance work experience; equivalent education/experience considered.
• Experience with SAP or large integrated finance system.
• A willingness and demonstrated ability to learn new hardware and software systems.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in compliance with rules and regulations, including HIPAA and FERPA guidelines on the disclosure of information.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal formats.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive relationships within and outside of reporting lines.
• Demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of finance terminology and practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience conducting training.
• Experience functioning in a team environment.
• Experience performing finance tasks in a business setting.
• Experience serving multiple units as part of a service team.
• Experience performing finance-related tasks at a University of Nebraska institution.
• Knowledge of federal and state laws and guidelines related to business practices.
• Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor others.

Posted Salary: $56,118/year minimum
