| Job Description HVAC Mechanic (Campus Maintenance)
The primary accountabilities below are intended to describe the general content of and requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
Position Summary: Maintains, repairs, modifies, replaces, installs, and performs routine and preventive maintenance on a wide variety of light and heavy duty heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment for existing facilities and those under renovation. Inspects installations of HVAC equipment installed by others. Routine and preventive maintenance includes operating, cleaning, inspecting, troubleshooting, adjusting, tightening, replacing, lubricating, reporting problems, etc on the aforementioned equipment. Reads, understands and interprets blueprints, drawings, floor plans, schedules and manufacturers' operating and/or maintenance specifications as related to electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC and special equipment, building structures and finishes. May be called upon to assist other maintenance personnel in completion of work assignments. This includes but is not limited to electricians, plumbers, maintenance technicians, sheet metal workers, etc. Responds to requests for routine and emergency maintenance and service from building occupants.
Essential Accountabilities:
Hourly Pay Range: $22.35 - $32.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00am-3:30pm (subject to change to meet the needs of the department and University). QualificationsQualifications: Graduate from an accredited Technical School of HVAC and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may substitute for education requirement.
Licenses/Certifications/Registrations: Currently certified with a Section 608 Technician Type I, II, or III Certification from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) required.
Motor Vehicle Requirements (MVR): Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver's license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
