Description Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) is seeking applicants for a Maintenance Mechanic 2at the Walla Walla campus. See Required Application Materials section for more information General Responsibilities: This Maintenance Mechanic 2 position performs journey level duties in the construction, maintenance, inspection, installation, and repair of campus facilities. This position performs a variety of skilled work in trades such as painting, carpentry, masonry, concrete, and sheetrock installation. Conditions/Terms of Employment This classified position is in a bargaining unit for which WPEA Higher Ed is the exclusive representative. This position has a typical working environment that will consist of both indoor and outdoor activities, often in inclement weather. Risks include operating tools and machinery, rotating equipment, chemical hazards, and other tools of the trade. Routine assignments also include working at heights and from ladders, and lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand and/or walk up to 10 hours per day. This position requires working with or around machinery and equipment with moving parts. These are typical tools and equipment found in HVAC/Maintenance/Plumbing work. Use of computer is required for some tasks. There will be direct contact with the public, students, and other institutional staff. Must be compliant with safety practices consistent with WISHA. This is a 40 hour per week position. Mon-Fri 7:00 pm- 3:30 pm unless an alternate scheduled is agreed to and approved by Human Resources. WWCC maintenance staff work a variety of shifts around the clock and must be able to work any days and shifts. Occasional overtime and callbacks may be required. There may be occasional travel to Clarkston campus (and as needed based on equipment outages). The college has an excellent benefit program including medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance; paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; and retirement plan. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP) unless declined at time of hire. WWCC requires all employees to participate in direct deposit for payment of salary. The college is tobacco free. Persons hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of lawful authorization to work in the United States within three (3) days of employment, and successfully complete a probationary period. WWCC participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. Candidates will be subject to a criminal history background check as a condition of employment.
