![]() Monterey Peninsula College TEMPORARY POOL - 2026 TRIO Math-Science UB Summer Residential Assistant/Student Life Facilitator Salary: See Position Description Job Type: Short Term Non Continuous Job Number: 2025-00045 Closing: 3/31/2026 11:59 PM Pacific Location: Santa Cruz, CA Division: Student Services Description PRIORITY SCREENING DATE IS March 31, 2026Open Until Filled POSITION: Resident Assistant/Student Life Facilitator LOCATION: Virtual via Zoom/University of California, Santa Cruz DURATION: May 1 - July 30, 2026 Important Summer Academy Dates: Staff Training via Zoom: June 3 & June 4, 2026 (schedule may be subject to change) Virtual Program via Zoom: Thursday, June 11, 2026 - Wednesday, July 1, 2026 Residential Staff Move-in to UC Santa Cruz: Thursday, July 2, 2026 (Room and board provided) Student Residential Program: Sunday, July 5, 2026 - Saturday, July 18, 2026 Residential Staff Move-out of UC Santa Cruz: Sunday, July 19, 2026 SALARY: Up to $4940 for summer program between May - July (includes room and board). Compensation includes time for planning and preparation of activities. Full participation in staff orientation and end of program activities is required. On duty or on call five to six days per week, 24 hours per day. Housing and food is provided during the residential component at UC Santa Cruz. If employment is terminated for any reason prior to the end of the assignment, pay will be reduced proportionately. PROGRAM OVERVIEW: TRIO Math-Science Upward Bound (MSUB) Program is a federally grant-funded program designed to support first-generation and/or low-income high school students who are interested in pursuing higher education and achieving a college degree. MSUB offers an intensive summer academy in STEM, where students attend a virtual component for four weeks and reside on the UC Santa Cruz campus for two weeks and follow a rigorous schedule of classes in science, mathematics, communications, foreign language, and college prep. The goal of the program is to increase the number of low-income and first-generation college students entering into math and science majors and careers. Along with the rigorous academic program, a personal development class is offered to foster self-awareness, understanding of others and college orientation. Example of Duties RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualifications NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS: Current college/university student or recent graduate, in good academic standing. Minimum of two (2) years of college/university enrollment Relevant work or volunteer experience with diverse student populations. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Be self-directed and able to accept responsibility as the situation requires. Able to work cooperatively as a member of a team. Willingness to implement all rules and regulations. Have a positive attitude about being a role model. Willingness to attempt innovative learning experiences in a classroom or an outdoor setting. Possess bilingual/bicultural skills/abilities. Demonstrated proficiency in public speaking and writing skill. Work Schedule / Supplemental Information IMPORTANT: This is a Part-Time/Short-Term Temporary position. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Offers of employment are contingent upon the MPC Governing Board approval. Employment with Monterey Peninsula College is not complete or official until applicants meet all pre-employment requirements. All new employees are required to submit proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Employees must sign the Oath of Affirmation of Allegiance, and submit **fingerprints for California Department of Justice clearance. **All employees working directly with minors are required to undergo fingerprinting prior to the start of the summer program.
